Day 1: Arrive at Denver International Airport by 4:00PM (book flights accordingly). You will be transferred to the campsite (transport included). Enjoy a hearty dinner at the campsite. The rest of the evening will be spent relaxing and socializing.
Day 2: We will start the day early. We will have breakfast at the campsite at 7:00 AM. We will set out for the Hermans Gulch trail head at 8:00 AM. We will start hiking the Hermans Gulh trail that over looks the beautiful Hermans Lake. It is approximately 6.5miles round-trip with an elevation gain of approximately 1,000 ft. We will start hiking up the Hermans Gulch trail which is part of the Continental Divide Trail, one of the longest trails in the US that stretches from Mexico to Canada. The trail offers spectacular views of the open alpine terrain as we make our way to Hermans Lake.We will aim at reaching Hermans Lake by 11:30 AM where we will stop for lunch and enjoy the view before returning back to the trailhead.
We will enjoy a delicious meal at the campsite and the rest of the evening will be spent relaxing and socializing.
Day 3:We will start the day early to ensure we make it to both peaks by mid-day. We will have breakfast at the campsite at 4:45AM. We will set out for the Grays trail head around 5:30AM.
We will start hiking the Grays trail to Grays Peak. It is approximately 3.5 miles with an elevation gain of about 2,990ft. We aim at getting to the top by 10:00AM. This however depends on the hikers speed and overall fitness. We will stop at the Grays Peak(14,270 ft.) to enjoy the views, take pictures and have lunch. We will then descend the Grays-Torreys saddle and make our way towards Torreys Peak. Those hikers who do not wish to summit Torreys Peak can return to the trailhead at this point. The descent back to the trailhead is about 3.5 miles.
For those who wish to continue on to Torreys Peak, we will hike up the Southeast ridge of Torreys to the summit. We will aim at reaching Torreys Peak by noon; this however depends on hikers speed and overall fitness. We will stop to enjoy the gorgeous views making our descent back to the trailhead. We will join the Grays trail and do not have to return to Grays Peak. The hike back to the trailhead is about 3.75 miles. We will aim to return back to the trailhead by 4:00 PM.
We will then head back to the campsite to enjoy a delicious meal. The rest of the evening will be spent relaxing and socializing.
Day 4: Breakfast will be at 7:00AM. After breaking down the campsite and packing up, we will aim to leave by 8:00 AM. We will leave for the Indian Hot Springs where we will spend most of the day relaxing and unwinding from a great weekend of hiking. We will leave the hot springs at 1:00 PM for the airport. We will stop on the way for lunch.
